Franki and David’s Back Country Wedding in Dubois, Wyoming
Like most weddings, Franki and David’s wedding didn’t go exactly the way they planned. First their ranch wedding with friends and family was cancelled because of Covid, so they came up with an amazing back up plan. Since they both worked at the ranch, they worked with their friends to plan and execute a back country elopement in the mountains. We all packed up from CM Ranch with horses and side by’s and made our way up to the remote camp in the woods, for 2 nights. It was a beautiful remote spot by Moon lake, and their sweet coworkers, friends, and bosses helped them set up an amazing wedding weekend, even if their families couldn’t be with them.
The second thing that didn’t go as planned was me. Sometimes we can’t control the things we are and are not capable of. Franki and David’s plan was to ride up to Simpson lake ( a 3 hour horseback ride) to elope and about 30ish minutes in I started to shake and have a panic attack on horseback. Have I ridden horses before?…..yes. Has this ever happened to me?….no. Instead of being upset (which they had every right to be) these two amazing people didn’t hesitate. They and all their crew with them made sure I made my way back to camp safely and their awesome friend Alice jumped in for me and shot their ceremony up by Simpson lake with my camera. Am I super proud of the way I handled myself, not particularly. But their beautiful day wasn’t hampered by issues.
When they arrived back at camp, they were greeted by smiling faces, lots of bubbles, and every inch of the camp that could be decorated, was. We had spent the afternoon picking wildflowers, the guys built an arch we flowered. The cake which was brought in on side by and foot, was topped with local blooms. Was everything a perfect day for me? NO but was it a perfect day for Franki and David, absolutely. That’s what it’s like to have people around you who love and care for you. This wedding will be one I will never forget, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this amazing, adventurous, and loving couple.
Thank you for trusting me to be there with you, and I’m so sorry for my shortcomings!
Hugs,
Taryn
